As the iconic sail structure nears completion at the top of the Wilshire Grand tower, fabrication for the spire and beacon are currently underway at Valmont in Nebraska. The spire extends 172-feet above the top of the sail, bringing the overall height of the Wilshire Grand to 1,100-feet, making it the tallest structure west of Chicago. At the top of the spire sits a beacon that will be lit internally by an array of RGB LED lights; recently, the design team made a trip out to Ontario, California for a review of the beacon – an 18-foot tall structure of perforated stainless steel.
