This project for Dublin USD is a comprehensive two-phased replacement design for Frederiksen Elementary School. Phase 1 consists of 32 new 1-story classrooms and a 13,580 sf MPR building. The MPR consists of a multi-purpose space for lunch, indoor PE, and assembly space. It also houses the school kitchen and performance stage which doubles as a music classroom that opens to an adjacent outdoor stage.

Phase 2 is comprised of an administration office building with an outdoor patio adjacent to the staff lounge, and new buildings for the onsite Extended Day Care Center, and a new Learning Center which consists of a Library, Resource Specialist rooms, and small group counseling rooms.

The existing school was part of a District-Wide seismic safety initiative prepared by our team, which led to a $56M bond. We worked with the District and community members to design the demolition and replacement of the existing Havens Elementary School consisting of 26 classrooms, core administration facilities and the development of hardscape and artificial turf playfields. We committed to designing the new 46,000 sf school replacement and obtaining DSA approval that allowed a one year construction schedule. Designing in a mature neighborhood on a small site and around a historic multipurpose building were particular challenges.

Rex Fortune is the first elementary school within the Center Joint Unified School District, educating transitional kindergarten through sixth-grade students (TK-6). The new school, named after the late superintendent of the school district, Dr. Rex Fortune opened in the Fall of 2023. Rex Fortune Elementary is focused on teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).

Two of the six classroom buildings are designed specifically for STEAM education which opens the inside to the outside through large rolling doors to accommodate robotics and other lab functions. Two buildings are designed to accommodate traditional classrooms, and two are designed for kindergarten students with an exclusive secured interior play area.

Modular construction was utilized in this project to achieve high standards of design, schedule, and budget.

This new, 211,000 GSF, six-building high school complex includes: performing arts classrooms, a library, multi-purpose room, two gymnasiums, a variety of playfields and courts, food service and lunch shelter, administrative support services, playfields, and subterranean parking under basketball courts. It was important to maintain as much usable open space as possible to create a campus atmosphere on the constrained urban site. Given the magnitude of the intervention it was important to be mindful of the scale and character of the surrounding neighborhood throughout the process.

The new 600-student elementary school for Napa Valley Unified School District is a STEM magnet school. For the design of this project, special attention was paid to integrating curriculum needs for the diverse student population. The new campus is a short walk from the trails that run through the wetlands and along the Napa River, making it a perfect location for the students to supplement their STEM education.

The campus includes a Multi-purpose building, Library, Administrative building, 24 classrooms, as well as a Family Resource Center and Pre-school facilities. The Multi-purpose building and fields were designed as joint-use facilities as the site is in close vicinity to a City-developed wetlands education park. 

AC Martin completed an extensive modernization of Westfield Village School. The project consisted of a modernization and re-purposing of 18 existing classrooms, added 7 new Pre-K and K classrooms, added a new administration building along with a new Library, Wellness Center, a Physical Education and Visual Arts / Performing Arts building. The modernization replaced the existing full-service kitchen and upgrading the existing multipurpose building interiors. New electrical, data, fire alarm, and security systems were added along with security fencing and site security access. The modernization also included ADA upgrades of all existing buildings, site facilities and restrooms. In addition, the site was completely re-constructed including replacing all site utilities, offsite improvements, a new off street bus turnout, sidewalks and driveways, new parking with provisions for future EV charging stations, hardscape, landscaping, new play areas, and play shade structures. The project added softball and soccer fields, a garden area, trash enclosure, bike parking and reworked public site access to the site and the adjacent park parking. The buildings also received new finishes, exciting new color schemes, signage and materials throughout.
